March 16th 14:30

Have been busy the last hour with house work ( pakcing sails) in
preparation for the north east 30 knots forecast for this
afternoon/evening. Again not featured in the grib, but fetaured in the
Metservice forecast. I am waiting for 6pm when we get the observations
from all NZ weather stations, to see if the north east is present
further north of us close to Castlepoint.

Currently in 6 knots of wind, from 100 magnetic, code zero up, and 6
knots of boat speed. A steepish following swell. I am just waiting to
get the 15:00 position reports from the Yellowbrick trackers to see how
we are going agianst the others, most notably Revs who is inshore, and
Surreal and Truxton ahead of us, in an area clear of cloud... it would
be good to know what the wind is there.

We have been regularly downloading the YellowBrick positions, and if we
get updates 1 hour apart, it really helps judge the weather around us.

On the domestic front, we have started eating our host Beverly's baking,
Rob enjoyed her savoury loaf and I her ginger loaf for breakfast. It is
really neat to have our home baking stocks replenished.

  2. Glad you are so close to the finish line given the met forecast. Great sail so far, just a few miles to go and you will be rewarded with a great placing! We were near Napier this morning (on our way back from Gisborne) but given your position at that time and my estimate of your ETA we could not hang around for your arrival. We are with you in thoughts..
Take care and hope you get through the forecasted NE unscathed.
