Stewart Island

Expedition Coppelia finished leg two just before 4pm yesterday, under kite in less than 5 knots of wind.

Our reception was overwhelming with two fishing boats of supporters, crews and locals on the water to greet us.

We were then whisked to the wharf, then to the local hall where the Lions club put on dinner and prizing. In less than 4 hours we went from the two of us on a damp boat becalmed in the mist, to the warm company of the Stewart Island locals.

I would really like to thank Matt Woodley and the Royal Akarana Yacht Club who organized a bottle of rum for my arrival, which was presented to me at the prizegiving.  It is fantastic to realize that all you guys at home are thinking of us. And I have to say, many others were jealous as their yacht club had not done the same.

We are currently on the boat tidying up a little, and will post pictures once we get ashore this afternoon.
